…Some types of glitches occur spontaneously, while others are intentionally prompted by using equipment or technology that randomly or systematically produces them. A glitch may occur in the theme, the production method or in the material of the image as well, and it could be present in the picture or in the viewer’s eye. In this call we understand glitches in a wide sense, ranging from the unexpected in the process of composing images to the technological errors that modify the final image in all sorts of intended or unintended ways.

In this selection of films we try to rediscover how time and space conditions our perception of the world. These narratives of audio-visual experimentation make the viewer face and reflect on the various forms such as the exterior and interior space, the personal space, the public, and the one that has been built since fragmentation. This is how journeys, morning trips and city or country tours will be the constant motivation of this selection.

Two will be part of the faculty exhibition Not A Metric Matters at the Syracuse University Art Galleries starting tomorrow (August 15th) until November 24th.
The Gallery Reception will take place Thursday, Sept. 12, 5 – 7 p.m.

The Syracuse University Art Galleries is pleased to announce “Not A Metric Matters,” an exhibition featuring new and recent contemporary artwork created by 16 faculty members from the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA). The exhibition highlights artists working in a wide variety of media including painting, photography, drawing, ceramics, video and site-specific installations. Curated by DJ Hellerman, curator of art and programs at the Everson Museum of Art, this exhibition brings together the eclectic and powerful work of design, illustration, studio arts and transmedia faculty at Syracuse University.

Or image. Doesn’t matter, really. It can be a start. A middle. An end. A possibility.

…Two is a dance of two people speaking different languages which intertwine in the cinema frame, pushing it towards its extreme possibilities. Not only that, their dialogue is purely cinematic to the extent that the signals they send to each other are fully realized only on the film, in the presence of the numerous audiovisual components that cinema can offer.
